Psst!...Quebec, If you build it a team will come, and Fisher Traded to Music City

NHL Hockey News - How about the Nordiques coming back to Quebec? I think Colorado Avalanche are safe but then maybe we'll see Quebec get the Phoenix Coyotes. I know the Conservative Party in Quebec are supporting the idea of bringing a team back. The obstacle seems to be a building to play in. They need a new Coliseum or pronounced in french (Coli'see'-Ko-li-zay) I believe the NHL should relocate a struggling franchise like the NY Islanders to Canada. Canadians are passionate about Hockey and so are many of the Quebec'ers. This idea is fully supported by the conservatives. We have all seen the TV images of the french Conservatives in Nordique sweaters, promising a team and taking many friendly pictures with their names on the back of the jerseys. Those french conservatives better hope a team does come because you could bet those conservative MP's will lose their seat next election if they don't. If Quebec gets a team, then 'bye-bye' Winnipeg chances. No more Jets talk. We know for sure Balsilie won't get a team after he Tri-Cities and Hamilton bid when he wanted to buy the Coyotes. Why not bring an NHL team to Peterborough (joking)?

Relating with Peterborough, there is news of Mike Fisher being traded from Ottawa to the Nashville Predators. Fisher wasn't available for comment but Ottawa will lose a favourite. But they get something significant in return. How about a 2011 first round pick and as well a conditional 2nd or 3rd round pick in 2012, which round depends on their playoff performance. Fisher was a second round pick 44th overall in 1998. Fisher plays every game as if it was his last. He has shown a scoring touch but is more recognized for his strong two way play. He can win face-offs, dig and play valuable minutes on the power play and penalty kill. He will fit in with Nashville. Infact, he already has. We all know Fisher married Nashville recording artist Carrie Underwood. This kind of deal could not of worked out better for the couple. Fisher already has friends there. Hopefully he can remain healthy and play for many more years. He has battled injuries throughout his career. The stats for Fisher, he has 521 penalty minutes and 324 points in 620 career games. For Underwood, she is one of the biggest stars in country music today. She is massively successful. She is the highest grossing artist to win American Idol. Second is Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson is third. Can you tell I love idol? Don't laugh.

Keeping with money and back to Quebec. I believe that the "Belle" Province is rich enough to support an NHL franchise. Of all the 10 provincial economies Quebec has had one of the strongest surviving economies. Here's the kicker the province of Quebec needs a new Coliseum and once they have that built, its now the understanding , then the team will come. Who will build the Arena and what do you think?

Live from Las Vegas. Where I am covering the UFC 126.

It's a big weekend in Vegas. Not only is the UFC 126 going down at the Mandalay Bay Events Centre in Vegas. It is also SuperBowl 45. There are guys everywhere running around in Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers jerseys everywhere you look. I have talked to some guys who are here for both the UFC and the Super Bowl and some guys are just here to make some bets on the football and watch the game in Vegas. The Super Bowl is one of the biggest days of betting in Vegas. Even though the Super Bowl has never been hosted in Vegas, it still draws thousands down to Vegas. This year it is being played in Texas, of course and the Packers are 2 points favoured. Being the first time Pittsburgh is playing in the Super Bowl as the underdog. I am going to bet the Steelers this year. Even though the Packers have been the hottest team in Football in last half of the season and the playoffs. I believe the Steelers big game experience will make the difference in the big game.

Over to the fights, Anderson Silva vs Viltor Belfort in the main event. They say if Silva wins he will likely fight St. Pierre next. Silva is the longest reining champion in UFC history. Both he and Belfort are Brazilian Jii-Jitsu Black Belts. This should be the an impressive fight and I predict Silva will win in a split decision. In the Forest Griffin and Rich Franklin fight (the only two guys fighting tonight without a tattoo) will have two Americans fighters trained in Brazlian Jiu-Jitsu but both like to stand toe to toe and brawl. I predict Griffin will win by tko. Then we have the treat watching the up and comer, Jon "Bones" Jones take on undefeated Ryan Bader. Bader can do damage. He is strong as a Bull but Jones has 10 inches of reach over Bader. But Bader will look to get inside and use his knockout power. There is great hype building with "Bones" Jones he is an up-and-comer MMA scene. He has a thrilling and imaginative fighting technique. He has fought 12 times and is 11-1. His one loss coming by disqualification for firing illegal straight down elbows. I predict "Bones" will come out with a tko victory.

I am off to the pool for a swim and then to the Casino for some action.

Call Centre Conversation

At The Call Centre

A couple of female co-workers are sitting at their desks. Both are on a call but they have put their customers on hold. Girl 1 has a coffee cup on the desk. Girl 2 has an energy drink on the go. Both girls have a pack of smokes with their lighters resting on top of the pack and a pair of sunglasses beside their computer monitor. Girl 1 is slim and slight with straight blonde hair. Girl 2 is more round and plump she has straight blonde hair as well.

(Scene 1) Girl 1 gets up from her desk and comes back with an armful of food in styrofoam containers. She sets some macaroni noodles down in front of Girl 2 and puts her lunch container down at her desk.

Girl 1: I was heating up your lunch and then dropped my noodles on the ground so I had to go buy a poutine. I hope your noodles aren't cold now.

Girl 2: Those fries smell good.

Girl 1: Ya I was gonna buy you some too, sorry. Ashley was in the lunchroom and she helped me clean up the noodles.

Girl 2: I hate that bitch (She cracks open another monster size energy drink)

Girl 1: If I get one more text or anybody asking me what i'm doing for lunch i'm going to kill them.

Girl 2: Who keeps asking?

Girl 1: Oh, its Ryan. He keeps texting me.

Girl 2: Psycho Ryan ? or...

Girl 1: No other Ryan, annoying Ryan.

Girl 2: Jeez girl, one day i'd just like to have your problems.

Girl 1: You want my problems?

Girl 2: Oh ya, I'd take either Ryan any day.

Girl 1: Psycho Ryan was just in jail.

Girl 2: Are you gonna get back with him?

Girl 1: I don't think so.

Girl 2: I hope not. He's a coke head.

(A girl walks by in tight jeans. She is also carrying a poutine in a styrofoam container)

Girl 2: pfff, how does she even fit into those jeans and why would she want to do that everyday?

Girl 1: I don't even wanna get into that.

Girl 2: How are those fries? (She reaches across to grab one)

Girl 1: Good, you can have the rest.

Girl 2: Thanks. They got new containers eh?

Girl 1: Ya, looks like it.

Girl 2: Did they keep the price the same?

Girl 1: Ya, $2.99

Girl 2: No ketchup?

It's My Day Off

It is early in the morning. I Make some coffee and sit down to read the paper. No breakfast for me. I had a late dinner. Not much in the paper. A story about a sensor panel forcing Dire Straits to remove the F word ("faggot") from their song "Money for Nothing". I love the guitar intro to that song, Sting helped sing and write that one with Mark Knopfler. Anyways, I Read the thru and I make a to-do list: laundry, walk the dogs, take my guitar in for repair. That is all. It's a short list. Its my day off. I figure I'll will work on some writing and maybe go to the gym; but it's my day off, why even write the to-do list when you have so little to do, you might ask? Well it's my day off and I can do whatever I want to.

I could smell the sweet aroma of it from just outside the doors. There was a festival and it was the chili cook off today but I couldn't find enough money in my pocket to get in. I knew I only had around 6 dollars but I got in my pocket and counted the money anyways, where was my sense I knew I was short but count it again, some hope there was enough money to get in. $10 to get in the smell was lofting out the open door from inside, it was sensational, I could of dropped to a knee. I followed the smell close to the entrance as I could. There was a man taking tickets and greeting at the door I said, "save some for me" but I knew I wouldn't get a taste. I wanted in so bad, a chubby reported reapeated what I was thinking, "It smells amazing". I want some in my stomach I thought and hear is this fatso walking in for free cause he is going to take a big picture for the paper. I could only walk by. No money.

I had to continue onto the job bank. I needed to go find a job, I only had 6 dollars in my pocket. I thought of Alison back home. She was pregnant and yet to be my wife but I was wanting to but a ring first. Worst thing is I was just laif off work.I pleaded to my boss "my girlfriend is pregnant" He said, "You never told me nothing about it and I told you we had a layoff coming"He tried to assure me I could "Go on unemployment or talk to Rob, he may have some work". I couldn't believe it, the layoff came sooner than I expected. I complained to him a little and I said" we need to eat and rent, Alison is pregnant she needs to eat for two now .. and there is the the cat and dog and... " I sobbed and had to pull myself together. I better just move on. I could find work, something else would come up. I sure as hell wasn't calling Rob. That guy is an ass-hole and coughs and spits all over the place and smokes like a chimney and drinks pepsi and farts all day. Luckilly Alison was still working full time. I thought how she would say "I am only 6 months pregnant but I can work as long as I want or need to". She deserves so much better I thought. I couldn't sorry for myself and I knew I had better get looking at the job bank.

As I walked on I got thinking the worst part is our refrigerator just broke down. What a mess that is. Tonight is gonna be a big clean up. It is supposed to snow. In the morning I could go knocking on few doors and shovel some driveways. I could charge $8 a lane way and if I do 6, that may take a few hours but that would make me$48. I will have to set some aside for for bills the rest can could go to some food. I walked on and changed thought. I wondered if they would of given me a half bowl of chilI for 5 bucks? I thought about it some more and continued on my way the job was going to close in one hour.

Adopt a cat, plant a tree and record an album

New Years resolutions. I have a got a list together this year. It is about hard work, environmentalism, animal adoption and art. I hope to plant a few trees and reduce the waste I create. I will adopt and abandoned cat and record my first album of music and work hard at this blog and take up photography and get more exercise.

I got Mark Twain's first edition or first part of his Autobiography for my birthday. A big hard cover. I got a a few other good books for Christmas as well. Now its, time to find some time, to read all these good books. Happy New Year to you all!
