Hurricanes nab Semin

Carolina Hurricanes have made two key additions this off season, trading for Jordan Stall on the day of the draft and recently signing free-agent Alexander Semin.

How does this first line sound?

Jordan Stall at centre, his brother Eric on the left and Semin on the right side.

Semin will be entering his seventh season in the NHL and signed a one year deal worth $7 million. He has 197 goals, 211 assists, for 408 points in 469 games.

With Carolina's depth at forward, perhaps Semin skates on the second line with speedsters like Jussi Jokinen, Jeff Skinner and Chad LaRose.

Another big right handed free agent Zac Parrise signed a 13 year $98 million contract with the Minnesota Wild, averaging just over $7.5 million a season. Semin has averaged a slightly better than Parise, averaging .87 points per game, compared to Parise's .82

Semin had struggled to find the back of the net in Washington this past season. Scoring 21 goals, his second lowest input since his rookie season.

The off-season acquisition raises the stock of the Huricanes instantly and could lead way to a Semin scoring 40 goals again and help lift the team from last place in the southeast division to the top.
