Jr. A Lakers handed the St. Catharines Athletics their first loss of the season. It was the Lakers first overtime win to the season, winning 14-12. The Lakers remain undefeated in four regular season games.
Connor Danko was facing his former team for the first time and settled in to the game midway and made some key saves helping the Lakers win a close game.
The Lakers opened the scoring in the third getting two goals in the first minute and go up 12-7. The looked like they had the game until some undisciplined penalties gave St. Catharines a shot back in the game and and they did, going on a five goal run to tie the game and send it to overtime.
The Lakers Brandon Johnson scored early into overtime and Dan Michel would seal it, scorin with 46 seconds to go.
Connor Danko made 44 saves.
Top Scorer was Josh Currier, who had four goals, three assists.
Out of the line up for the Lakers was leading scorer Zach Herreweyers who was away playing in a field lacrosse tournament with his school. Still away at the NCAA schools are Matt Crough, Kyle Trolley and Turner Evans. Paxton Leroux is on the injured reserve with a broken arm.
The Lakers host the Toronto Beaches this Sunday 7 p.m. at the Memorial Centre.
