Tennis - US Open
Men's Final -- The #1 in Tennis player in the world is Novak Djokovic. Say it, Djokovic, Djokovic, Djokovic, Djokovic! This time, say it again, out loud!
Did you raise your arms, and say it?
No?
Well that is Ok. Djokovic is fun to say and he is fun to watch.
It is almost scary how good Djokovic is. He won the US Open and he did it in 4 sets, defeating Raphael Nadal in the reigning US Open champ. Djokovic was in control early-on. Winning the first two sets 6-2, 6-4. But the games were long. It was a battle. The third set needed a tie break and Nadal found a way to win it 7-6. Djokovic composed himself and took a medical timeout before winning the 4th set 6-1. The games averaged an hour a set and the 4th took 42 minutes. Djokovic gavr credit to Nadal. "everytime I play him it's a challenge".
Djokovic had to beat Federer in the semi finals and takes home. Rafael Nadal won the tournament last year. Djokovic takes home $1.8 million for winning the title.
Women's Final
Serena Williams lost the women's US Open to Samantha Stosur. Williams lost her cool and went after the Chair Umpire this time. Following a shot Williams shouted "oh yeah" just as Stosur was preparing a return and the Chair Umpire made a call of and awarded Stosur the point. Williams called the Chair Umpire a "Hater" and suggested she was "ugly on the inside". This is classic material. We'll see this running alongside other meltdowns, like those of McEnroe, Courier and the other young spoiled American Roddick. Stosur crushed Williams in straight sets 6-2 and 6-3. The Tennis Association fined Williams $2,000 dollars, leaving the runner up with $898,000 US Open prize. I would of fined her $10,000 - what a baby. Stosur grabs the same purse as Djokovic 1.8
